#TechnicianTuesday: Turbomachinery Industries Triumphs Over Turbine Troubles

Table of Contents

This #TechnicianTuesday, we highlight the repair and teamwork of Turbomachinery Industries on an Elliott 2DYRPG-5 Turbine—a multi-stage steam turbine that presented significant challenges.

The Challenge:

The turbine arrived partially disassembled, removed from service due to steam leaks and wear on critical parts, affecting its efficiency. Our inspection revealed extensive steam cuts and erosion on the turbine wheels, essential for converting steam pressure into rotational energy.

Our Solution:

Finding replacement components was challenging due to their unavailability on the market. Despite this and the tight deadlines from our client, our team navigated these challenges.

Teamwork and Safety:

Led by Juan, our shop foreman, and supported by our mechanics—Martin, Rudy, Isaiah, Robert, and TJ—our crew performed cleaning, non-destructive testing, and rotor balancing. We prioritized the safety of our team and the integrity of the equipment, adhering to all safety protocols.

Outcome:

Our commitment to excellence and meeting client deadlines was evident. We repaired the turbine and enhanced its efficiency by replacing the damaged reversing segment and blades.

Celebrating Success:

This project demonstrates our ability to handle complex repairs and deliver despite constraints. We are proud of our team’s effort and consistency in meeting and exceeding customer expectations.

Join us in recognizing the Turbomachinery Industries team for their outstanding work on this crucial project, upholding the highest standards of quality and safety!
